MSLMD23S Portable Ultrasonic A/B Scanner Introduction

The Ultrasonic A/B Scanner for Ophthalmology is an ultrasonic imaging instrument specialized in ophthalmological diagnosis. It consists of a main unit, a power adaptor, a 10MHz B-Probe, a 20MHz B-Probe, a 10MHz A-Probe, a footswitch, a keyboard and a mouse.

The 10MHz B-Probe applies to normal ophthalmological ultrasonic diagnosis; and the 20MHz B-Probe applies to observation of details of intraocular and retina structure.

Patients with eyelid trauma and severe eye infection are prohibited from using B-Scan, and patients with keratitis and cornea trauma are prohibited from using A-Biometric scan.
The A-Biometric scan should be used cautiously in patients without independent behavior abilities or those highly sensitive to contact-mode measurements, whose ineffective cooperation may result in inaccurate measurements.

Based on the experience of products sold (and considering technology upgrade cycle), as well as the aging of major parts - transducer which will probably reduce the basic performance, the product's expected service life is determined as five years according to the normal usage of six hours each working day. (Service life may extend if the major parts, like the probe, are returned to the manufacturer for upgrade.)

a) B-Mode: Under the excitation of electric pulse, the 10MHz/20MHz ultrasound transducer emits ultrasonic pulse into eye and receives reflective echo from the surfaces of different tissue, thus forming real-time two-dimensional image of eye tissue.

b) A-Mode: Under the excitation of electric pulse, the 10MHz ultrasound transducer emits ultrasonic pulse into eye and receives reflective echo from the surfaces of three different tissues of anterior chamber, lens and vitreous body. The transmitting time of ultrasonic wave in different tissues are measured and the distance of each part will be calculated according to the acoustic velocity of different tissues and then the axial length (AL) will be calculated.
