Next Chem-Med

19 - 21 October 2011

Watermed

WATERMED is the special Focus area at CHEM-MED 2011 for the technologies, products, services and solutions for the treatment, purification and chemical analysis of industrial wastewaters.

After the positive debut at ZeroEmission Rome 2009, WATERMED 2011 has now been repositioned as part of the important international chemical event, CHEM-MED, which will take place from 19 to 21 October 2011 in Milan. Water, in fact, is above all a chemical element and the tools and technologies used in this sector are also those used in analytical chemistry and environmental engineering, sectors that are an important part of CHEM-MED. The repositioning in Milan, moreover, guarantees WATERMED high visibility and the possibility for the entire sector to put Italian excellence on show in an international showcase.

The macro exhibition sectors of the Milanese edition of WATERMED 2011 are:

  • Water treatment
  • Collection and distribution of water
  • Measurement, process and control technologies
  • Use of water
  • Research and development

Other than a dedicated exhibition area, WATERMED 2011 will also have a detailed and qualified conference programme with the participation of representatives from universities, research bodies, institutions, associations and industry, who will offer companies, professionals, scientists and technicians from all sectors of water technologies an important opportunity of training and updating.

During WATERMED topics such as the safeguarding and storage of water resources, the challenges that we must face up to in the future in terms of desertification of territory, the growing number of people who do not have access to water resources, with the aim of finding solutions for the future, with EXPO 2015 in mind.

Last but not least, Italy has 7,500 km of coast on a vital resource, with considerable potential of development for large desalination plants (there are about 15,000 in 120 different countries at present, with a total production of about 30 billion litres of seawater desalinated per day). These plants enable to respond to a part of the needs for water for future years, avoiding the risk that water could become more and more a business and not a human right, as stated by the Universal Declaration of human rights.
